LaborFest Writers Workshop and Waterfront Writers

The LaborFest Writers Workshop read from their own work and gave a short presentation on the WPA’s Federal Writers’ Project, including excerpts from the American Life Histories of the Folklore Project.

Also reading: M.C. Warrior, born and educated in England, who spent nearly 35 years working as a seine boat crewman and coast logger in British Columbia; and Tom Wayman, widely recognized as one of the leading Canadian poets, whose work appears in the Norton Anthology of North American Poets and who has never left his working-class roots.

About the Venue

Founded in 1953 by Lawrence Ferlinghetti, City Lights is one of the country's most storied independent bookstores and a landmark of the Beat literary movement, at the edge of North Beach.
