About the Group

The LaborFest Writers are a writing group rooted in the labor movement, meeting weekly since 2005. We are rabble-rousers, activists, union members, immigrants, and native-born — outside the literary mainstream and proud of it.

We grew out of the 2005 LaborFest writing workshop led by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz at the Exit Theatre in San Francisco's Tenderloin.
